The hamlet of Querença is located 5 minutes drive south from the Quinta on top of a hill with spectacular views, in the transitional area between the fertile Barrocal landscape and the Serra de Caldeirão range of hills.

In the central church square you can find the tourist information centre and a museum (Pólo Museológico da Água) which explains the importance of water in the area.

In January, Querença holds its traditional chorizo sausage festival. São Luís is the town’s patron saint of animals, and the festival commemorates the age-old tradition by locals to offer gifts of homemade chorizos in exchange for the saint’s protection of their livestock.

The event includes a procession, tastings of grilled sausages and plenty of musical entertainment.
